Seeking information on my Great Grandfather Joseph Mills Gunter, who I believe was born in Wolverhampton, UK in 1841. His son Archie (also known as Albert) was born in 1884, in Penge. At the time, Joseph was called an Army Pensioner. On the birth certificate, Archie's mother was named Gunter, but I can find no trace of the marriage. I've traced her back as Ellen Augusta Wade (aka Wise), and she tragically died a couple of years after her son's birth. Also searching for information on Joseph's father, Charles Gunter - estimated to have been born around 1811, but no indication as to where - other than not Wolverhampton. He was married to Eliza Hopton in Leamington Priors, Warwickshire in 1836, and died in Worlverhampton in 1843, just two years after the birth of his son Joseph. |
