My grandfather was Archibald Gillies, born in Largs, North Ayrshire, in the 1890's. He had two sons, Donald and Robert (Don & Roy), both now deceased. Archibald married Margaret Blair (nee McAllister) but unsure of date of marriage as yet. I know she was approximately 6 years older than Archie (Pop). The McAllisters were originally from Skye, but unsure of when the McAllisters moved to Largs....or did all the family???! I know Margaret Blair had two brothers named William who stayed in Largs and a brother that I never met called Angus. Archibald had a stepbrother named Toby (from photos), but am unaware of the origins. Think Toby emigrated to Yarmouth in New England. Connection there approx.1956 with David Whitehouse who was in his early twenties at that time.
