Jean Todd 13 July 2007 I am one of many descendants of the Mayohs of Turton, Lancashire. My grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather & at least two more generations came from Turton. Mayoh is transcribed variously as Mayoh, Mayho, Mayo, Maych & probably other variants that I haven't yet come across! We all appear to descend from Christopher Mayoh & Jane Knowles who married in 1740. There are also many Knowles' in the Darwen/Turton area so an extension of the Mayoh family tree, which already has over 6000 names, could be complicated but interesting! I've only been investigating my family history for about four months but I've had considerable success using genesreunited. It would be interesting to hear from other 'cousins'. |
