to paul bradshaw,just read your messageof 14-8-2004. My dad was joseph Whitney.Your grandmother, dorothy, was my dads sister. Thier father john Whitney, was in the Boer War and came from sheffield.He stayed in south africa and met Margaret Rycroft, your great grandmother.Dorothys daughter,dorothy bradshaw is my cousin.my name is joanne Whitney and i live in skegness. i have just begun building my tree and would appreciate any info regarding john whitney, and particularly margaret rycroft and the great trek ect.and her dutch decendants..thanks. jo. ps. john was a gold miner.!
