I have just acquired a photograph of my great grandmother's gravestone, inscribed with her date of death - 8th June 1928, aged 71 years. Her name was Elizabeth Sarah Bradshaw (nee Kalthoeber). I don't have her death certificate, although I do have the reference, which shows that she died in Wandsworth, South London. Could someone please tell me how I might find in which cemetery she was buried. The photo also shows the plot number so, provided I know the cemetery and the gravestone still exists, I can visit the site. Thanks in advance. Ron

Hi Julie, that's fantastic. Thanks so much. I don't have the death cert but I'm fairly sure that she and her husband James Bradshaw lived at 138 Himley Road, Tooting. Why do you ask? Ron

Ron On my map the 2 nearest to Himley rd are Lambeth Cemetery on Blackshaw rd or Streatham Cemetery on Garratt Lane Both come under the borough of Wandsworth The one for Battersea Rise is to far from the address

Ronald The borough of Wandsworth is massive, and there are 4 Cemeteries under the borough, so it trying to work out which one is the nearest Julie

Julie In actual fact I work in Wandsworth and was originally brought up in Tooting. I'm familiar with the cemeteries, sounds terrible, doesn't it? When I first read your reply I didn't notice you'd quoted 2 cemeteries and thought I could go straight to the Bolingbroke one. Sorry if I sounded over excited. I'll just have to enquire of the Cemeteries Superintendent at the Council. Ron

That's a coincidence. I have a maternal ancestor who lived in Fulham, just over Putney Bridge and he had a funeral office at 7 Vanston Place, Fulham. All of my mum's mum's family were undertakers with the main office being in Rochester Row, Westminster. I keep meaning to check if Vanston Place still exists!! Ron
