I can't find a George Steel in Barnsley born 1862. Are you sure it's the 1891 census? Kath. x

I think there must be some images missing from 1891 census for Barnsley. In 1881 number 7 Moffatt Terrace was in district 17. I've worked my way through all 41 pages of district 17 in 1891 and can't find a Moffatt Terrace and the last page of the district ends what seems to be in the middle of a household. The head of household is at the bottom of the page, but there are no more pages with the rest of the family. Sorry, have to go and start tea now - be back later. Kath. x

Hi Pam You can search any address on the 1881 census, so I put 7 Moffatt Street in the keywords box on Ancestry 1881 census and just opened the image. The top of the page had 'district 17'. After that I went onto 1891 census and just put 'smith' in the name box (as there are usually Smith's about everywhere, lol)and 'Barnsley' in the 'parish' box and clicked search. When a result came up I clicked on 'Barnsley' at the top of the image and that brings up all of the district numbers. Then clicked on 'district 17' and scrolled through all 41 pages of images. I hope this makes sense - it's not easy to explain but quite easy to actually do. Kath. x
