Which father is correct? please

Hi There, One of my ancestors was called John Lucas Bluck b abt 1803 Kinlet, Shropshire. His parents was John Bluck and Margaret who,s maiden name was also bluck. I have found 2 possibilities for his father. John Bluck, b abt 1768 Bishops Castle and another John Downes Bluck b abt 1774 Bishops castle. I dont know which father is correct. Can anyone help me please? Regards Richard

You will have to do a bit of work with the Parish Registers, and trace both men forward, to see where that gets you. and you might have to start a few generations before. If you can find Monumental Inscriptions for either man, these can be absolutely invaluable for sorting out families. OC

According to the IGI the John Bluck christened 1768 had parents Richard & Mary, The one christened 1774 was John Downes Bluck with parents with parents Edward & Sarah. They're both extracted records so reliable. Margaret

This is just a guess but it looks like the other John Bluck married Ann, if he was the one born in 1774 then he would have only been about 17 when he married, so just on guesswork I would say your John Bluck was born in 1774. Hi Richard The LDS site (www.familysearch.org) has a marriage reference for John Bluck and Margaret Bluck. Husband JOHN BLUCK Marriage: 16 OCT 1795 Kinlet, Shropshire, England Wife MARGARET BLUCK This would suggest that the correct one isn't John Downes Bluck as presumably his middle name would be listed. To see the original record in the parish register you would either have to view on film at your local LDS centre (you can find this on the website but they will charge you if they don't have a copy) or at the records office in Shrewsbury. Ref for the film at the LDS is Batch No.:M016022 Dates: 1661 - 1846 Source Call No.: 0992304 Type: Film Printout Call No.: 6908538 Type: Film Sheet: 00 You can also find John jnrs christening on the site in 1803. Parents given as John Bluck and Margt.
