Hi Julie, Yes that was what misled me a bit but I got Henry and Mary's birth certs. and they both said Father William Angliss ,tailor, and Mother Mary Ann formerly Evans. Funnily enough my Grandad and Great Grandad, who was the Albert on the 1861 census, both became tailors with Albert having a large shop in Hawkhurst (next to Cranbrook) where Henry Angliss lived and married during the same time. William (GGGrandmothers son) went on to have a son William Charles who went to Australia and became a very wealthy man, was knighted and when he died in 1950's left 4 million pounds. I have his biographhy written by his wife. No mention of Mary Ann (mother)!!! My GGGrandmother died in 1893 in Lambeth Workhouse Infirmary. All the Angliss family moved to Australia and worked in the family business. I would loved to have known what went on Linda

Linda Ok just had a look from the 1881 to the 1861 and yes i'd say it is the same family, it was George's age that threw me off, lol. I'll have another look but Mary did change where she was from

Hi Julie, Thanks for looking anyway. I am sure it's the same family as in 1881 census George Glasspool born 1861 is living with Henry Angliss (Tailor) in Hastings. Which is where they all moved to. What is difficult to understand is ....if William and Henry were put into the workhouse and Mary Ann (Mother) then starting living with George Glasspool (My Great Great Grandfather) and had more children how Henry would so forgiving as to have George his half brother living with him Linda

Linda I had found Henry and William at the Norwood work house but the one for Mary & George isn't adding up. Because the info between the 2 Mary in the 1841 & 61 are so different i can't pick them up in the 1851 Julie

Hi Julie...and Angela Sorry on 1861 Mary in shown as the daughter of George Glasspool and Mary Ann but I have her birth cert. and she along with William and Henry are Angliss. I don't think George and Mary were ever married as I have his will and he lefteverything to Mary Anne Angliss and then in the next census after she gets this money she is 'living on own means' Linda
