John Berry HEGGIE was born in Forgan Fife abt 1850. John, wife Elizabeth, and their children sailed to and settled in Rockhampton, Queenland in 1882. Family story is that John and Elizabeth drowned while crossing a flooded river. I have found Elizabeth's death in Rockhampton in 1890 - and she certainly didn't drown in a river! I can find no further mention of John. Any assistance very welcome. regards Janine

Hi Janine, You may like to try the QLD State Library - they have an excellent 'Ask a Librarian' service -with Query Form on-line. They will check all their records - including early BDM's, electoral rolls (c1900+) and newspapers. Worth a try! Valerie (WA)
