Hi Judith, I have done a bit of sorting now. Would you please be so kind and send me the remaining census reports for the Hallams from 1871,1881,1891 and 1901. It seems that Maria Hallam 1858 married John Chester in 1879 and had a son Joseph I. Chester. Can you find anything on him in 1891 and 1901? All help would be greatly appreciated. Hello Judith, Thank you so much for your help and all the information. I have one more question. Sarah Hallam born 1838 seems to have had a daughter - Maria Hallam born 1858. Does this mean that the child was illegitimate? Did Maria ever marry? I think it might have been to John Chester 1851. My grandmother was a Hallam who married a Chester. I have found several Hallams who have married Chester`s but I don`t know if they were connected to my family. Is there an easy way I can find this out? best regards, Janet
