hi spring has spring, you asked me how i got that far back with being new to research - well acouple of weeks ago somebody on here was suggesting we did our own look up as there was a three free day trial though Ancestry .com....so i went on, and the surname Swannack was in the World Tree and i printed off form my great grand father back as far as Richard Swannocke born btw 1550-1597, alot of it matches another member on Genesreunited, i've forwarded it to her to view, some of the marriage dates are out, so i'm going about checking...i'd seen susie on her doing Nottingham marriage look up so just thought i'd list a message

Hi Angela, I dont' mean to be critical but wondered how you managed to get that far back with any certainty if you're fairly new to family history. It's taken me a good five years and many hours poring over old records and Wills to get just one of my lines back into the 1600's with each line proven.

The IGI also has the marriage of William Swanock/Swanocke & Elizbeth Bains/Baines, 3 Jun.1675, Everton, Nottingham but they're submitted records which I don't trust. Margaret

Angela, the IGI on Familysearch has the anglicized version: William Swanack christened 19 Mar.1636, All Saints, South Leverton, Nottingham. Parents are Richard Swanack & Elsabeth.

I never thought of the Names being latin, you must be wright as i have never heard of Guillelmi before, i actually got the info of the World Tree on Ancestry when they were doing a free three day trial a couple of week ago, i just wondered if the lady doing the Nottingham Marriage look ups - Susie i think would take a look for me, but not sure how to post a message, as last time i contacted her it didn't appear on here when i clicked on her name and sent it that wasy...still new to all this!!

I imagine his name was actually William and his father's was Richard - you seem to have got the details from a parish register that was written in Latin.
