Where would I find census for HM Forces in 1901?

Have reason to believe that two brothers were in HM Forces in 1901 but they are not shown in the English census - they could be anywhere from Ireland to Australia and everywhere in between. I thought that census was taken in HM Forces - but where would it be?

Gary I have pmd you but for benefit of thread - no neither died in Forces but as civilians some years later.

A lot of men were in South Africa with the Boer War in 1901 (my granddad included). I don't think there was a census taken. Kath. x

Hi Bernice, it is the missing twosome again. Only reasons I have to suspect they were both in HM Forces - 4 younger brothers followed suit, one of the twosome was a postman in 1904 (occupation usually offered to ex-servicemen) and the other told his children that he was in army, suffered a bad chest and was given money - assume a pension. Trouble is both were in civvy street when they married in 1904 and 1906. Could see if they were in Scotland/Ireland/Wales - leave no stone unturned! I can guess they were either in Marines or R. Navy and that is it. No other info. Being the date of 1901 apart from being anywhere - S.African was in turmoil. Thank you for all your help and advice.
