Help please with 1841/1851 Census

I can't find my Sargents in the 1841/1851/ Census. I have them living in Washington on the 1861/71/81/91/01.Thomas Sargent was born in Mickleham in1831 and had a sister Jane born 1833 his parents were a Thomas and Jane Sargent nee Lock. Thomas father was a Gamekeeper according to son Thomas' marriage cert. Son Thomas at time of marriage is living in Brighton and is a private in the Sussex light Infantry. He married 24/04/1855. Can anyone help find them please. Clare

Clare I looked at that entry on the 1841 census but was unsure of the district? Hi Georgina, Thanks for that info will try again on monday to find them at the records office with the spelling you have for them I tried with the spelling I have with the phonectic search surname turned on but could not find anything this one seems quite close although I wonder where Jane his wife is?
