Wow, Reg that tip you gave me is great!! I think the Taubman sounds more realistic as it matches the Sarah part, Thanks again for your help. You always amaze me how quick you do all this!!

Looking at 1881 census, you should be thinking of about 1871/2 for the marriage.........unless the eldest child was born before the wedding Reg

Thanks Kath and Reg for that, its totally thrown me though cos all the cenus has Sarah Jane as the wife??? Have you found this before that things dont match?

According to Ancestry the spouse in this marriage was either Elizabeth McCormick or Emma McLachlan, not a Sarah. Kath. x

If you go back to where you found the info, and click on where it say s 'click to view others on page', you will see all the names on the page. None of them is a Sarah, by the way......... But check it out......so you will know how it works..........for next time! Reg

I am trying to find the name of the person William Gilmour married in Dec 1874, I only know her name is Sarah but trying to find her maiden name, the ref is 8b 342, is there a way I can find out without buying marriage cert? There is no listing on the free sites. Regards
