Hi Thanks Reg and Judith for coming back so quickly and unravelling the mystery - so much more to go on now. Sorry for omitting that Selena's father was James Edwards which fits in with the info that you have both given me - many, many thanks. The marriage cert simply says the residence of both was Merry Hill which I suspect was a large farm in Hereford. I am really new to this Reg and haven't yet advanced further than Birth, Marriage and Death certs but Baptism/Parish Records will be the next challenge. This is such an excellent site. Phil

Birth registration wasn't compulsory until 1875........so she may not have been registered. You may have more luck if you search for her baptism..........or have you already got that? You seem to have the marriage cert........what was her father's name and occupation? Reg

Hi All Any help would be gratefully received. For some reason I am unable to trace the records of the birth of Selina Edwards. She was quoted as aged 22 when she married Edward Morgan on 30 May 1876 in Hereford at age 22 and 68 when she died on 10 March 1922 in Mainstone, Clun. The 1881 census states her place of birth as Newent, Gloucestershire and the 1901 Census as Weston, Herefordshire. Should be easy but I'm missing something - is it me! Phil
