General registration didnt start in Scotland till 1855 so anything before that is really hit and miss. Check out IGI first and if you do or dont get anything from that, check out Scotlandspeople.gov.uk its a pay per view site but you can sign up for free and have a little look around. If his parents stayed in Scotland you might try looking for their deaths, epecially the mothers as you can cross reference her death with both names. When did Robert leave Scotland? Do you have him on any census there? Mhairi |

Scotland is a place I haven't yet had to search..... Robert Russell TROTTER b 1833 Glasgow. Parents Thomas Trotter (c1800) and Mary (Miller c 1805) Any ideas on how I can get further...... RR ended up in New Zealand, where he married in 1877 and died in 1921 Thanks Peter |
