Thanks for the first two. Actually I wondered how Samuel and Mary Alice would go, I could never actually find a marriage for their mother Margaret. On the 1861 Census the two children were down as hers, well I assumed they were hers and they took her name Care when born. I have checked that out. The name you said doesn't ring a bell. It is not that important if you can't find anything, I was just interested to see if I could find out anything about them Thank you for your help Julia

As far as Samuel and Mary from Elham it seems that their mother may have died before the 1871 census. I found a Samuel Care as an adopted child and Mary Alice is nowhere to be seen. Do you know there mothers maiden name? perhaps they could have gone to stay with them, does Curndwell ring a bell?

I have a Charlotte B1833 Folkestone and William S Rogers B1829 Dover. They would have two children James William B1854 and Mary Alice B1856. Could anybody please help me with an 1861 and 1871 Census.
