Hi All If it is at all possible, please could someone help. I cannot find the birth of my grandmother, she was born in York (as far as i know) in 1917 but i cannot find this on ancestry ??? I believe she was an only child and I have no information on her parents either - so my family tree is stuck at only 1917! Any help very much appreciated.

Think you are missing a couple of steps in your research. Have you worked backwards with your parents marriage and birth certs to enable you to get your grandmothers wedding cert - presuming off course that she married Maureen

Yes that sounds like it - she was born November 1917 so 4th Quarter... Where did you find that information? Is that the reference number of the birth certificate I should buy? My nan took my grandfather surname but there is no record of this marriage either! My mum also says that they never celebrated an Anniversary so we doubt they were actually married. If they were married I cannot find any record of it. Many Many Thanks for your help
