Not too sure Margaret if her first husband died or not. Someone has suggested that after so many years he could have been presumed dead, and that she could have married her 'live in lover' Sue

I agree, Sue, a lazy census taker! Curious though that they didn't marry until 1894. Do you suppose she had to wait for the death of the first husband? I'm afraid I can't find them in 1881. Margaret

Sue, the Sarah on the 1891 census who is the wife of Frederick Hearn says that she was born Clerkenwell.

Thank you for your reply Linda. I don't think this is them. Sarah Kemp was definitely born Lewes Sussex, but the Lee family didn't hail from there. The birth is not the right one. Sarah Agnes is the one I'm looking for. Once again, thank you for your time. Sue

1871 Sarah Lee (nee Kemp) born 1853 Lewes living in St Brides with first husband, parents and sister........1891 she is Sarah Hearn wife of Frederick (although they didn't marry until 1894) living in Clerkenwell......Their daughter Sarah was born around 1881/82 but can't find a birth for her although have searched several years either side and in the names Kemp, Lee and Hearn with no luck......Can't find Frederick or Sarah, either together or separately in 1881. Maybe I have been missing something??......Sue
