If you've added all the children as being born to Selina, you may have to think again.........!! John S must be Hester/Esther's child Reg

Hi Reg It would appear William had 3 wifes with children from each marriage. Wife 1 Selinda Blencowe died 1849, children Elizabeth & Sarah Ann Wife 2 Esther Smith died 1852, children John & William Wife 3 unknown child Henry. There is a marriage for a William Shirley 1860 Rotherhithe Sep 1d 847 but there are 2 male names & only 1 female, so it looks like the only way to find out who his third wife is will be to get Henry's birth certificate, whoever she was she must have died before 1871 because William is recorded as widowed. Didn't have much luck with his women did he. Thanks again for your time Janice

He was also widowed in1861.Would have been a very short marriage.

There is a marriage entry for Ann Bishop in the right area and qtr..........Ancestry and freebmd have transcribed the page number as 1047, which is completely out of sequence for Rotherhithe. Looking at the image, I think the page number is actually 847............the guy at the GRO had a very strange way of writing the figure '8' Lucy Davies 1860 Jul-Aug-Sep Rotherhithe (To 1869) Surrey John Henderson 1860 Jul-Aug-Sep Rotherhithe (To 1869) Surrey William Shirley 1860 Jul-Aug-Sep Rotherhithe (To 1869) Surrey Marriages Sep 1860 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bishop Ann Rotherhithe 1d 1047 Reg
