try the marine deaths on find my past. he may have died at sea and his death would have been logged by the ships captain and the ships log handed in at the end of the voyage from which a marine deathcert would have been issued

Karl It's just a thought because I had the same problem with one of my ancestors....I notice that David Liggett was a ships carpenter. Maybe he died at sea? Mine did and there is no record of his death anywhere. I managed to trace the ship he was on his Seamans ticket (held at kew) then found out where he was based at the time and then that there was a massive storm killing thousands of seamen. A bit like a jigsaw puzzle that finally all matched up. There were apparently no official records of the mariners names just the missing ships. Sheila

David Liggett was married to Martha Moores in Ireland 1845 and lived in Liverpool,Wigan Lancs between 1851-1871, David liggett died somewhere between 1861-1871 aged 35 to 45, nobody in our family knows what happened to david or how he died or buried! this is been a big mystery for years, even the family history researchers can't find him?? does any body any information or maybe somewhere we may have overlooked?
