hi julie thanks for your help yes i do have henrys birth certificate and it clearly states john sheer as the father thanks linda

Linda The child of a married woman is always the child of her husband, by English law. So, if she 'forgot' to tell the Registrar that her husband was dead, then he would automatically enter her husband as the father of her child. She wasn't the only one to do this! OC

Do you have Henry's B/C Maybe Thomas Shipton is his dad and cos Clara and Thomas wasn't married she put down John Sheer as his dad. A similar thing has happened to me

Linda You think thats bad My nans parents on the 1901 census say that they were married, but oh no the weren't, they got married 14 years after she was born lol

thanks julie this is one strange lady her first husband died in 1871 but their son was born 1873 i have his birth certificate and on the 1881 census shes listed as calra shipton but married in 1883 but thank you for all your help linda

looking for the date of a marriage between a clara malyon(nee sheer) and a thomas shipton around the bermondsey area of london i know by 1881 there married and in 1871 clara is married to a john sheer but he died in 1871 if the date could be found between clara and thomas that will be a big help thank you so much linda
