Gary Do the maths.........Susannah would have only been 12/13 years old when Thomas was born, and I can't see Jemima letting him live with her and the family if he was some other female's illegitimate child by her husband!! Reg

Just a little correction, Gary, those were christening dates not birth dates. Should be close, but not always. I couldn't find Martha anywhere but here's Elijah: Elijah Eager christened 3 Dec.1858, Newhaven, Sussex. Mother, Jemima Eager. No father named. Margaret

Just had a look at the 1861 census and Jemima Eager aged 26 and her son Elijah, 2 are in the workhouse in Newhaven. So how does this Jemima fit in with your family? Margaret Update, According to Free BMD Jemima Eager marries William Woolgar in 1864 in Lewes and then on the 1871 census we have Jemima Woolgar, wife of William and she's born 1835 in Newhaven which matches Jemima Eager on the 61 census but what did she do with little Elijah? She has 3 children but not Elijah. More update: Free BMD. little Elijah died in 1862 in Lewes.
