Natural Son

have found the parish record of Samuel Dabell, it says natural son of Elizabeth Dabell, does that mean hes illegitimate, and if so, because she had him baptized did it mean she kept him?

Unfortunately, I can't think of any way you'll ever be able to find out............ Baptising a child was an automatic thing to do.........whatever the circumstances of its birth Reg

Yes, it would mean illegitimate. Are they likely to appear on a census? Or is it too far back? Reg
