Find Ancestors

Hi I am trying to trace my Great Great Grandad Arthur Beal born 15/10/1821. I can not find a marriage reference for his or a death reference. My Great aunt told me he died in 1883 when his youngest son George was 3 months old. George is my Great Grandfather and there is no name listed on his birth Certificate. However his wife was already showing as a widow on the 1881 Cenus. All I known is he was born Arthur Beal on 15/10/1821 in Guyzance, Northumberland. Wife was Eleanor Gibson born 1839 in Rothill Northumberland. I can find Arthur on the 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 Census. I do not know how to go on from here. Any advise welcome. Many thanks in advance.

Where have you looked for the marriage/death? Have you checked the FULL records? Or only the freebmd extracts? Reg

If no father is named on the birth cert.......he was illegitimate. Reg

If he was born 1821 and died in 1883 with a 3 month old son he would have been an elderly parent , his wfe born 1839 would have been in her 40,s too . not impossible but a bit late,. Something doesnt seem right with those dates.

I have searched each year on 1837 although I may have missed something as this has been frustrating me for awhile.

I know that he was unmarried in 1861 and there was a Son named John Gibson Beal born in 1859 in Guyzance. I am assuming this was not Arthur's son. I know they went on to have: Margaret b. 1864 Guyzance Thomas b. 1865 Alnwick Susannah b. 1866 Alnwick Ellen b.1871 Alnwick Robert b 1873 Alnwick Anne b. 1875 Alnwick John b. 1876 Alnwick Arthur b. 1868 Alnwick ( I have a copy of this birth and father is named as Arthur Beal) I know that it seems George was not his son but I am still interested in what happened to Arthur.

I have seen this reference and I know the date is out. I do not know if there was another Arthur Beal born in 1813. As records on the PC do not go back that far I can not check. I live in Devon so I am far away from Northumberland.

If you check the censuses, you will find only one Arthur Beal prior to the birth of the son in 1868/9. I think it's pretty clear that Arthur was not George's father......... The only way to be sure about the death is to buy the cert, to find out who the informant was........... Reg
