Hi Iggy, The writing is not very clear but on close examination it is possible that it is Mary Jane as the last letter could be an 'e' and the J may not have come out right. I think it is more likely to be Jane as there is a birth for Hunslett on Freebmd 1846 for a Mary Jane Bailey. By the way, I live just outside Alton. There is still a Paper Mill Lane but no sign of Spittal Field cottages. Kate

Hi Iggy, I am not surprised they couldn't be found in 1851 on Ancestry as I have looked them up on my CD for Yorkshire but the reference does not appear on Ancestry. Piece 2328, Folio 454 page 19. I note from the 1861 that Mary Jane is actually 15 and not 5, so she would be around for the 1851. There is also Elizabeth aged 17. I have Thomas and Jane Bailey, he was about 31yrs and she was 27yrs.He was a Paper Maker. I think they were in Woodlesford Yorkshire, they had a daughter Sarah in 1860 born there, also Elizabeth 7yrs and Mary Jane 5yrs, many thanks ...Iggy
