Hello, Did you know that there is a military record for George Goodyear? Goodyear, G., Warrant Officer, British Naval Mission. Enlisted 1893. Engaged in secret service work in Serbia during WW1. Demobilised November 1918. Awarded High Serbian Decoration for gallentry and devotion to duty and in addition the 1914-15 Star and the General Service and Victory medals. His address was 50 Plymouth Street, Southsea. He's the only G Goodyear (naval) for this time-frame. Deb:) This ties in with what Maid Marion found.

I know the circumstances are different, but my grandfather left my grandmother and their children in the 1920's. My grandmother took him to court for maintenance and we found the record in the Magistrates Court records at the local archives. It told us exactly how much he had to pay and even the policeman's name who had to issue the court order to him, so hopefully you will be able to find similar details unless, of course, it was all done through the navy. All we know is that his name may have been George Goodyear was in the Jarrow area in 1916 on a Royal Navy ship. He may have paid maintainence through his naval pay was married at the time of my fathers birth his name is Frank. Can anyone help we have sent a letter to the South Shields county court to try and find any details of the maintenance payments.
