I have absolutely no idea Margaret. I will have to look and see if i can find any records of them emigrating. Don't worry about the little mistake. Ha ha. Thanks for looking Margaret and everybody else. I really appreciate it. Thanks ever so much. Ross Fletcher

Uh oh! That was my mistake, Ross, I was so excited about finding the second page that I rushed it! Eleanor Amelia it is! It was spelled Ellanor and I read it as Hannah. Sorry, Margaret

No probs!!! Im glad you found them. Havent yet found them in 1901 either though im afraid. (perhaps it was the same enumerator for the 1901 as the 1891. Goodness, this could be a long search!!!) LOL

Ross, I just can't find them in 1901. Any chance they might have emigrated? Margaret

Ross Report 9 Jun 2007 14:28

Hi. Ive been looking at the birth records and there doesnt seem to be a Hannah Amelia Neale born but i can see an Eleanor Amelia Neale born 1890 as expected. Im guessing that the enumerator wasn't very good at all. How many mistakes for one family hey! Thanks everybody. Like Maureen said you did very well to find that for me so thanks. Ross Fletcher

Looking at the 1891 census that Fox on the Rocks found. (Great piece of detective work, that was!). I found that the transcriber didn't go to the next page, where the surname is more like Neale and there's another child, Hannah Amelia, 8 months and also father-in-law George Goldfinch, 53, blacksmith, born Stokesley, YK and mother-in-law, Martha Goldfinch, 53, born Hyde, Lancashire. Ross, Taking into account Maureen birth entry, I found this: Name: Alfred Male Age: 38 Estimated birth year: abt 1853 Relation: Head Spouse's name: Elizabeth Gender: Male Where born: ??, Dudley Civil parish: Linthorpe Ecclesiastical parish: St Pauls Town: Middlesborough County/Island: Yorkshire Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: Education: Employment status: View image Registration district: Middlesbrough Sub-registration district: Middlesbrough ED, institution, or vessel: 63 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Alfred Male 38 Anna Gold?? Male 7 Chas Edwd Male 4 Elizabeth Male 31 George Alfred Male 2 Martha Alice Male 9 View Original Record View original image The anna Gold? looks to me like goldfinch. It possible the the eunumerator mis-heard the surname and put mele instead of neale!? (again, it looks to me like mele, not male).

hi, i have an Alfred Neale born 1858 Dudley, Worcestershire and wondered if somebody could please try to find him on the 91 and 01 census letting me know all of the information please. He was married to an Elizabeth Goldfinch born 1860 Manchester. They will probably have been living in North Ormesby, Yorkshire. Hope you can help. Thanks. Ross
