Find Ancestors

I can't seem to find my great grand father could some body point me in the right direction, This is what i know he was called albert edward anderson died aged 74 yrs in 1947 he married alice maud mary draper she was born 1887 and died 1955,i have been told there was a 18 yr age gap between them, But that must mean one of the dates above must be incorrect. he had a sister called mary and maybe a brother called bill(would this be william).We have been told he comes from scotland but have no proof.

What part of the country did they live in? Sam x

they lived in derby, but i think i'm being thrown by my grandma who said he was from scotland.

I wouldn't worry about what your grandma says until you can prove it. My uncle is convinced his family originated from Wales, well I have traced them back to 1790 so far and they are in Stoke on Trent! Sam x

Here is Alberts death registration: Anderson, Albert E. 74 Derby 3a 279 - Q3 1947 And Alice: Anderson, Alice M M 67 Derby 3a 386 - Q1 1955 So Alice was born c1888 and Albert c1873. Bear in mind that the ages on the death records are only acurate if the person recording the death gave the correct information! Will look for births and marriages now.

Possibly Albert? You need to look for their marriage, if you find that and order the certificate, it will tell you the names and occupations of both fathers and hopefully you should then be able to find Albert on the 1901 census. I have found a family in the 1901c but i have nothing to confirm it's him.

I have found alice on the census and you have found the same, Thank god i'm on the right track with that one!!
