Hi Mhairi I would like to thank you and every one who has come to my rescue today. I am only a newby at this, only starting 6 weeks ago, as I haven't seen any family for almost 40 years and could not remember who was who????. I never knew where anyone came from till now. This sure has got me hooked!!! Most of the current family are now reunited and interested in my efforts (yours). I will send for the cert in Scotland and see where that leads me???? Thanks again Brian

You'll get his birth cert online from Scotlandspeople.gov.uk Doing a search on IGI with the fathers name will help you narrow down the search and save you some credits on SP. If that is their marriage in 1855 then get it! 1855 certs show so much more information than any others and are so helpful. Mhairi

Thank you one and all for the response-I think I will have to get certs for this one!! One last pointer is that their was a George Munroe that was born in Aberdeen and appeared on 1861 census in Liverpool, perhaps staying there for a few years before moving south before the next census??? Regards Brian

Julie Report 6 Jun 2007 11:08

Brian I can't find them on the 1861 England or Scotland census. You might need to either ask someone for a Scottish birth look up for George or order the B/C for James. Then you'll have mums maiden name to them look for their marriage and then work back some more Julie
