Ian the other 2 names on the marriage reference married each other, each page of a marriage reference contains 4 names (8 names on earlier marriage references) you just have to work out who married who. Georgina.

Thanks for that, it looks promising. I'm assuming that the name 'George' in the George Sarah Matilda Marylebone is her maiden name? If so there is a good chance this is the right one as in the 1901 census Frederick Ives lists a William George living with him and his relationship to the head of the family is nephew. I would then assume its Sarah Matilda's Nephew. Who do the names below relate to? Are they Sarah Matilda's Parents? Or something to do with Frederick? Or witnesses? Hatton Thirza Adelaide A T Marylebone 1a 1118 HUCKLE Charles Marylebone 1a 1118

People often used their middle names on the census, there is a good chance this is his marriage, if you got the certificate it will give you his fathers name & occupation. Marriages Sep 1882 (>99%) George Sarah Matilda Marylebone 1a 1118 Hatton Thirza Adelaide A T Marylebone 1a 1118 HUCKLE Charles Marylebone 1a 1118 Ives Frederick George Marylebone 1a 1118 Georgina.

He was married, not sure of his wifes exact name though as on the 1891census he has her down as Sarah M Ives and on the 1901 one she is called Matilda Ives.

Ian the census's are only as reliable as the information people give at the time and also the way they are transcribed (lots of mis-spellings). He could have been born to a single mother who then married & on the census's he is listed under her married name? Have you found a marriage for him? Georgina.

Hi, i was wondering how reliable the census records were. I ask because i am searching them for one particular relative but have hit a small problem. I am looking for a Frederick Ives Born in 1861 and in Marylebone, London. I have found him in the 1891 and 1901 census, but there is no trace of him in the 1881 or 1871 census. My next problem is that i have found 1 frederick ives in the 1861 census. In the 1861 census the frederick ives is 3 months old, but it has him down as being born in Guiseley in Yorkshire. I am now left trying to work out if my Frederick Ives is the same as the one in 1861, and that as he was living in marylebone, and his childeren were being born there in the 1891 and 1901 census, that he also just put his birth place down as Marylebone. Or maybe was unsure of his birth place. Or in fact the Frederick Ives in the 1861 census is completely different to the one in 1891 and 1901. Why would there be no trace of him in the 1871 and 1881 census also?
