Have just obtained copy of birth certificate for relative, born in Scotland. It has her parents names and date of their marriage in 1879 but I cannot clearly read where the marriage took place. It looks like Ballabey Caslleblauy?? Could this be right? Does anyone recognise it and where it is please? Many thanks

Thanks Georgina - the couple are:- Patrick Fitzpatrick and his wife Margaret nee McMahon. On their daughters birth cert they are living at 43 Kirkgate, Leith but it is the place of their marriage I am after as I dont know if it is Scotland or Ireland as I cant understand it, hence my plea for help. Regards Rosie

Rosie what is the child's name & birth year? Could the parents have married in Ireland? Georgina.

Hi Georgina - the childs name was Bridget born in 1888. Yes I guess the parents could have married in Ireland, I dont know, that is why I was hoping some one would recognise the place name I added earlier to try and establish where it was.

Georgina thank you very much for that census, very helpful. Still dont know if the name I originally put on was right though as I have never heard of it personally. But at lease we have established its in Ireland somewhere! Regards Rosie

Cor blimey what a mouthful! definitely not that on the marriage cert. It definitely looks like Ballabay Caslleblauy or something similar but the writing is so difficult to understand. Anyway Georgina, thanks very much for your time and your help. I very much apprciate it. Its not the first time you have come to my aid and I am sure it wont be the last! So thanks again. Rosie

Hope it is the co Monaghan one! The reason I came up with the Isle of Man one first is because I used to live there, thats why it seemed familiar lol! Rosex
