I would be gratefull if a member who lives up in shiffield would look for my grandmothers birth certificate her name was Cathrine Mason born !st September 1885/6. I would be very gratefull. Jennifer

Nobody can look up the birth certificate for you, you have to buy it to get the information. You can look up the reference number from the GRO Indexes and you can do this yourself. Try www.freeBMD.org.uk or if ot isn't on there, you need to use Ancestry and check the full indexes. Sam x

You can't look at birth certs without buying them. You can order one online from the GRO at a cost of £7.00 Reg

I can't see a Catherine Mason born c1885 on either the 1891 or the 1901 census. Was Mason her maiden name or her married name? Sam x

How do you know that her birth date was 1st September? What is the source of your info about this woman? If your maiden surname was Mason, it is highly unlikely that your grandmother's birth name was Mason...........I know it's not impossible, but............. Reg
