Thanks, Helena. Yes I understand. So I will be careful with it.

But the only way to be SURE is to see the image with your own eyes as mistakes were often made when transcribed into Ancestry and then again into Freecen. I use these to find what I'm looking for but then pay for the image so that I can see exactly what was written - occasionally its been slightly different!! .......... but I suppose we each have our own methods. Hi Betty, yes I have used Scotlandspeople once few years ago. It is no good. If I pick some wrong families in some censuses then I will lose some credits. Ancestry is better. Georgina, thanks for information.

Steven the 1841 census on Freecen is taken form the same source as the one on Ancestry, the good thing about Freecen is you can just click next household & see who their neighbours were. The 1841 scottish census did not give who was related to who. This is the same info from Ancestry... Name: John Napier Age: 60 Estimated birth year: abt 1781 Gender: Male Where born: Scotland Civil parish: Montrose County: Angus Address: Carnegie Street Occupation: Linen Lane L W Parish Number: 312 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age David Napier 13 Elizabeth Napier 56 Jane Napier 22 John Napier 60 Mary Napier 20 Thomas Napier 9 Georgina.

Hi Steven, Scotlands people only charge £6 for 30 credits!!! This could pay for 1841,1851,1861,1871,1881 census lookups, or several Births, marriages and deaths, all with images, so cheap at this price. Betty

Hi Georgina, yes I know that I have to pay an image. However, I could not afford it. Thanks for telling me about FreeCen. I did not know that it was also in Scotland. I have found them. John Napier Age 60 Elizabeth Age 56 Jane Age 22 Mary Age 20 David Age 13 (possible my gg grandfather) Thomas Age 9. Do this 1841 Freecen all informations in same as in an image? I never seen Scotland censuses.

Steven on Freecen there are 50 Napier's in Montrose and they all have the same parish number 312, do you have any first names? Georgina.

Steven if you want an image of the 1841 census then I am afraid you will have to buy credits on Scotlands people & view it on there. Ancestry only have the Indexes from the scottish census's no images. There are quite a few 1841 scottish census pages on Freecen but they are typed transcripts. Georgina.
