Hi, Thanks for the assistance, its a bit costly having to order certificates all the time and only do it when there is no other option, as the lady I'm researching for is a pensioner. Its really the fathers name I'm after as the census records come up with at least five Smith families with Walters as sons in Lincoln at the time. Once again thankyou for the help. Claire

Hi Claire I can get you the details of the marriage certificate, as long as the appropriate parish marriage records have been deposited in the Archives. I should be going in the next couple of weeks. This will give you his father's name and occupation (hopefully) and his age at marriage, it will not automatically lead to his birth registration. You may still have to play detective using census, and marriage witness names etc. - especially with a name like 'Smith'. I will not be able to get a birth certificate, as stated previously you have to purchase that - there may be a baptism record but that will give you very little detail unlike the actual birth certificate. (checked the Lincoln Archives website and it looks like the marriage register has been deposited for St Swithins Lincoln for the time frame you require) Gail.

l am afraid you have to purchase a copy of all certificates, you cannot get access to them any other way. A copy cost £7 and you have the reference number to order it. Sometimes you can get some details from Familysearch and parish records but that means going to the area that the events took place in. Good luck Irene

I am researching on a friends behalf but wanted to save them some time and money, so if anyone has access to the marriage and birth records for Lincolnshire and you could get me the following info I would very much appreciate it!! I need the marriage certificate for Walter Smith and Ethel Gertrude Martinson They were married at St Swithins Church on December 24th 1906 the ref number for this certificate is 7a 1124 I would also appreciate if someone has the time and inclination to look for Walter Smiths birth certificate, this will be easier I suppose once the marriage certificate is in front of you!! Then again..... He was born approx 1883 - 1887 in Lincoln, I know nothing more about him other than he and Ethel had 9 children - Frank, Hilda, Phyllis, Ethel, Dorothy, John, Cyril, Ronald and Reginald. I have all the info I need on their children but now need to work back and have come to a full stop using different programs etc. Thankyou in advance Claire
