After many years of searching some kind ladies helped me find what I think is the 1891 census entry for my GG Grandfather (details below). I have tried to find him on any other census without success. I would really appreciate if anyone could have a look and see if I am missing anything obvious. Thanks Margaret Frederick Isaac Age: 60 Estimated birth year: abt 1831 Relation: Head Gender: Male Where born: Bath, Somerset, England Civil parish: Lyncombe and Widcombe Ecclesiastical parish: St Thomas A Becket County/Island: Somerset Country: England Registration district: Bath Sub-registration district: Lyncombe ED, institution, or vessel: 11 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Louisa Jane Diment 48 Frederick Isaac 60

Thanks Angela. The record which you found yesterday is the best lead I have so far but I have been searching since you gave it to me and I just can't see anything that looks like him in any other year. Margaret

I am not sure that he was born in Bath but I do know there was a connection to Bath. My Great Grandmother Eliza was his daughter. She was born c1860 (looks like the birth was never registered) in England but I can find no trace of her or him before she came to Scotland about 1882. On her marriage and death certificates he is shown as a Marine Store Keeper (which is the same as a Licenced Hawker). Her mother's name was Mary Ann (ms Walter) and she was deceased prior to Eliza's marriage in 1888 although I don't know when. It is therefore possible that he remarried. As you can see I don't have a lot to go on. Thanks very much for your help everyone. It's very much appreciated. Margaret

Margaret Are you aware of the bathbmd website. There's an Ellen Isaac, registered in 1857 Bath (Lyncombe/Widcombe) mmn Walters. Could well be a sister? That was the district Frederick was in in the 1891 census. www.bathbmd(.)org.uk Angela I've checked Ellen out on the IGI, where she seems to appear as a submitted entry marrying a Robert Needs Evans. Following her through the censuses, they seem to have moved to Wales. Their marriage appears on FreeBMD. If you're feeling flush, might be worth buying the cert on the offchance Eliza was a witness? Marriages Dec 1877 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >>Evans Robert Needs Cardiff 11a 363 Harrison Agnes Cardiff 11a 363 >>ISAAC Ellen Cardiff 11a 363 Ley John Cardiff 11a 363

Angela That is brilliant. The reason that I thought that there might be a connection to Bath was that my great grandmother made several visits there (on her own) when my grandmother was a little girl. However, she regularly visited Cardiff but no-one could tell me who it was she went to see. In fact, at one time I was told she was Welsh. I'll certainly follow this up. Thank you so much. Margaret
