found the marriage of the Amy Joyce, can't find the marriage of the Amy Bobbett. I was wondering if perhaps Amy remarried after Frederick Taylor to a Blake???? as that would make sense why he death was registered under the name Blake.

Thank Ozibird for the advice. Amy's death certificate is a British one. Alexandra- It could be Frederick. All i can do is try. This is a list of their children and the years they were born. Frederick John Thomas b.1912 Rosina b.1913 Albert b.1915 Jeremiah b.1919 Gertrude b.1920 Joseph b.1922 Lily b.1924 Roger Annie b.1929 Alexandra you wouldn't by chance know a Prisilla Griffith/s and/or a William Bates by any chance. They lived in Australia for a little while before returning back to England/Wales. Shirley- I found an email that mention that she talked of living at Turnbridge wells as a young child, so this could be where she was born. Siobhan- Amys' death is registered under Taylor not Blake. Her maiden name Blake was not written on the death certificate. The box where you write it in was crossed out. Is this a common thing to do? Janice- Thanks for the address and web address of the Croydon Advertiser. Thankyou for your help everyone, it is greatly appreciated, Kerrie

Hi Kerry, Oh so her maiden name is definately Blake. The only birth in Amy Blake born in 1888 is Amy Ruth Blake west ham 4a 259 2nd quarter. Is there any possibility that she married a Blake before marrying Frederick Taylor. So in fact her real maiden name is something else. regards, Siobhan

That marriage cert of 1911 will tell you if she was married before plus will give her dads name so that would be the best one to get first

it could be possible that her year of birth is wrong on her death cert, so it could actually be 1889 that she was born rather than 1888, that would mean that the birth in croyden of a Amy Blake in 1889 first quarter is most likely to be her. I would say order that birth cert and the date of birth on it, should confirm whether it is her or not. regards, Siobhan

Hello and thankyou for still trying to help me :) Siobhan- I guess the birthyear could be wrong, i mean it was quite common in those days wasn't it? I've sent off for their marriage certificate in the hope that it is them. They are saying that the certificate will be despatched on wednesday the 6th June so i'll probably get it around the 14th/15th June. I was talking to my grandfather and he told me that he felt that his brother Jeremiah wasn't his fathers son. That Jeremiah was born during the war and that is where his father was, so how did she fall pregnant etc..He has brown eyes, where the 10 other children had blue etc...The interesting thing though was that he told me that years ago Jeremiah applied for his birth certificate and to find that instead of Blake written as Amy's maiden name it was Lake. When they queried this they were told that it was written down as lake. So the plot thickens. Should i look for and apply for Jeremiah's birth certificate? Thanks for your help, Kerrie

Thankyou to everyone who have been helping me. It has been greatly appreciated. Yesterday the marriage certificate arrived and i am 99.9999% sure that this is them. Amy's place of residence is where i was hoping it would be. And Fredericks name is actually Francis Frederick and not the other way round. Thankyou Sylvia and Georgina for spotting that one out as i never even thought about that. No wonder i could never find him. I guess he got people to call him fred because he didn't like the name francis. I'm not sure what my next move is. I would like to look for the remaining brothers - Frederick, John and Roger. I'm guessing now though not to believe all the dates that i have been told, Anyways, Thankyou all very much, Kerrie
