Hi guys thanks very much for your help, i'll need to check out those websites! I have James and Ellen on the 1901 census in Glasgow, but as I don't know anything about the family I'm not sure who's left in Ireland to search for!! I've looked at all the census entries on leitrim-roscommon.com, and there are a few families which could be a match, I just don't know how to figure out which one is the right one!!

I'll just separate that up into paragraphs: Hi guys, I've took a break from researching for the last couple of months to concentrate on uni, but now my exams are done I have the whole summer to do more research!! I was wondering if anyone could help me with my brick wall - I think i've posted this before but not since last year, so I thought i'd give it another go: I know that my GGG-grandparents JAMES MCGOWAN and ELLEN ROONEY came over from Leitrim, Ireland to Glasgow, Scotland around 1893 - I have all their children's birth records in Glasgow, the first in 1893. On all their birth certificates it says that they were married on 4th January 1892, but I cannot find this certificate anywhere!! I visited the GRO in Dublin last year but could not find a record of their marriage certificate. I can't really research any further until I find this record, on my GGG-grandfather's death certificate it says his parents were Denis McGowan and Mary Ryne (?), but I cannot find a record of them either. HELP!! Can anyone suggest where to look for these? I have tried Scotlandspeople, leitrim-roscommon.com, ancestry... Thanks, Pamela xxx
