You could buy his marriage cert to get his dads name and his wifes name and you can buy his birth cert to make sure of mum and dads names. How old is his oldest child with Annie? Have we found the marriage yet for John and Annie? I dont know the areas up t'north - buy the birth certificate first to get mothers name and then you can do a search for the marriage. Get that cert and you will have info for the earlier generation. Do you know how to order certs from GRO online for £7? using the refs found.
