Thanks for the info June, im just trying to figure out whether this is the correct family. I mean i know his father was Thomas, but how am i meant to know his mother's name? It does get a bit difficult when you get to these awkward pre 1837 years doesn't it!

Thanks Margaret, im not sure if thats the correct one, as i believe that family is still together in 1851 (George is married by that time) June, that one looks like it could be the one. Could you possibly see if you can find Thomas and Ann in 1851? Thanks, Liz

Would this be them in 1841? Allensmore, Herefordshire Thomas Bevan, 49, farmer Catharine, 52 Catharine, 20 George, 19 Elizabeth, 15 Mary, 14 Thomas, 12 All born in county. This one from IGI seems to match the one on the 41 census, but, sorry, this Canadian doesn't know her geography of Herefordshire. George Beavan christened 13 Jan.1822, Orcop, Herefordshire. Parents Thomas Beavan & Catherine.

Hi Reg, in 1851 George was a railway labourer and in 1861 he was a railway guard. Im not sure of Thomas' occupation as i cannot find the certificate at the moment. I'll see if i can find it!

Could someone please have a look in 1841 census for a Thomas Bevan. I know he had a son George Bevan born 1822, Tupsley Hereford, and on his marriage cert he put Thomas' name down as father. I'm not sure if George would be with the family or not. I found an entry on the IGI for a George Beavan, Hampton Bishop with parents Thomas and Ann, but can't be certain this is him. I've found one family that may be a possiblility, but the mother is Catherine and in 1851 George is still with that family (by 1851 my George was married). Thanks in advance, and just shout if i've missed anything! Liz
