There is a James Addy on the 1900 US census, born 1863, England and living in Bristol, Massachusetts. Unfortunately I don't have access but I'm sure others do, Margaret Update, there's also a Dorothy Addy, same place, born 1865 England.

I'm afraid we don't know if they were married in UK or USA. The last census that James Addy appears on is the 1881 census(aged 17). We can't find him on the 1891 census ( his father was Benjamin Addy & mother elizabeth Buckley and they all lived in the Stalybridge area - they are listed on the 1891 census with the restof their children but James does not appear on this) Janice

When did they marry? Were the sons born in the UK? Which is the last UK census on which they are recorded? This is just to get a better idea of time-scale for the emigration......... Reg

Hi, We recently discovered that one of our relatives emigrated to USA, however we do not have access to any of theUSA records. We would be extremely grateful if anyone can find any information about James Addyb.1864 in Stalybridge Cheshire and his wife Dorothy Wright and their family. We think that 2 of the sons were called Stanley and Herbert and that they emigrated to America probably in the late 1890's/early 1900's? and possibly lived in Mass area or Rhode Island.
