Many thanks everyone for your efforts. Joseph died in Sydenham Kent in 1888. From 1851 he was a weaver, like his father and lived in Bethnal Green for most of his life. He later became a Carpenter. In 1841, I have found a family of Deans with the head being Sarah where the Joseph is rounded down to 15yrs - he is listed as a Porter - this seems the most likely family. They live in St Dunstan in the West, but Ive tried to then look up the siblings in 1851 and onwards and not had that much luck to see where they were born etc. I think I might have to go back to the FRC at some point and search all the parish records for St Lukes from 1888 through to his marriage as he could have been baptised just before marriage I guess. Any pointers in the meantime very welcome. best wishes

There is a St Lukes church in Chelsea (some of my lot were married there), although, in my experience, when St Lukes is given as the place of birth they mean the east end one. Angela

So he would be 19 in 1841 and very likely not living at home? Does he have an occupation requiring an apprenticeship or was he in the army or anything?

Sorry that should be from 1851 as I am struggling to find him in 1841. There are a few options and with the rounding of ages its making it hard to work out which one he might be. I know his father was Richard Dean and in 1851 2 floors above him is Sarah Dean so believe she is either his mother or grandmother. Still doesnt help with finding his birth though!

My Gx2 Grandfather Joseph Dean states St Lukes as the parish born in in every census from 1841 to 1881, he died in 1888. However, Ive looked for him in the St Lukes parish records for a good few years around 1822 (Approx YOB) and didnt come up trumps unfortunately. Any suggestions for other parish records to try would be gratefully received. Was St Lukes thought to be the posh parish? That sort of thing? All help appreciated. best wishes Deany
