Many thanks for everybody's help. I don't know her mother's maiden name that's what I'm hoping the BC will tell. I've starting this search off for a colleague who didn't know where to begin at all. He doesn't know his grandparent's names well he will now.! I have warned him that family is/can be addictive! KR Harriet ps he has just told me that his mother was born in June and when she died in 1992 she was over 80 and may have been registered away from Bath!! so just possibly we have found her in Easthampstead 3Q 1911. He'll have to buy the cert and compare it to her marriage cert to be sure.

Have you tried bathbmd - has bmd indexes for the Bath area online, or an address to send queries to. www.bathbmd(.)org.uk (remove brackets) Angela

The images that you cannot find on Ancestry are mainly indexed wrong. Find the nearest match to the name you want - then view the image - then select the previous or next image - hopefully you will find what you are looking for. As already mentioned no Olive Hughes in that quarter. Maureen

I cannot see her immediately in 1914 Q1, but these come up on free BMD. Are these records available? I don't have them on ancestry. If so please could some kind person look up the birth of OLIVE ROSE HUGHES possibly registered in the Bath area (as that is where she got married). I've got to off line for awhile but I'll be back later I've done everything I can from 1909 - 1916 but there are some records missing. many thanks harriet
