I have been searching for the death of William Moore for about 7 years with no luck, so I thought I would see if any of you good friends could help me find him. He was born in 1824 in Calverton, Nottingham and married Mary Ann Peake in 1849 in Oakham, Rutland. William and Mary had 7 children, the first two being born in Leesthorpe, Leicestershire and the others in Calverton. I have William on all the censuses up to 1861 living in Calverton where he had been a tenant farmer and at 5 Comyn Street, Nottingham in 1871 when he was given as “out of employ”. By 1881, Mary Ann was living in Hastings with two of her daughters running a lodging house. There was no sign of William, although Mary Ann was given on this census as “married” (but that could have been to keep away any unwanted attention). If William was not employed in 1871, he could have been ill and the move to Hastings could have been for the benefit of his health. Mary Ann would also have needed money, hence the lodging house. Mary Ann was on the 1891 census still in Hastings but now a “widow”. I have searched the death indexes at the Hastings Registrar’s Office without success and he is not listed on the N.B.I. Then in 1901 Mary Ann was back in Lenton, Nottingham with daughter Susannah. She died in 1907 at 12 Clinton Terrace (off Sherwood St), Nottingham but I have not been able to find her burial place although I have checked many cemeteries at the Nottingham Archives. I apologise for the length of this request but I wanted to give you a full picture. If anyone can throw any light on this, I would be eternally grateful as this has bugged me for such a long time. Any help would be welcome. Thank you in anticipation. Pat. P.S. I have to pop out now but will be back about lunchtime.
