Found RACHEL on the 1871,a servant living in Over Whitacre,Staffordshire.

birth index says staffs Mercy Tranter 1852 Oct-Nov-Dec West Bromwich Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire

I couldn't make it out either ! Looked on the 1861, she is down as MARY, it is her, same family members,dates etc. In that there is nothing under disability. Also on the 1861 is a RACHEL aged 13 who is not mentioned on the 1871.

Hi Richard, I don't think its anything to do with a disability to me, it looks like 'Cheshire'. Could she have been born in Cheshire not Staffordshire? Sam x

Hi there, My great x3 grandmother, Mercy Tranter was born in 1852, Moxley, Staffordshire. Her parents was Joseph and Mary Ann. According to the 1871 census she has some kind of disability, but I cannot read what it says. Please can anyone help me? Regards Rich
