Find Ancestors

Hi there, can anyone help me to locate this family on the 1841 census. I've searched for them on Ancestry on their free search, to no avail. There is no trace of them under their correct surname of GATISS, but it could be possible they are under GATES or some other possible translation. They are: George Gatiss b. circa 1795 (in the Durham or N'bland region) Margaret (wife) b.1802 in Winlaton, near Ryton Ann (daughter) b.1820 Lamesley John (son) b. 1821 Whickham Elizabeth (daughter) b.1823 Whickham Thomas (son) b. 1825 Whickham Isabella (daughter) b. 1827 Whickham George (son) b. 1829 Whickham Margaret (daughter) b. 1832 Heworth I know that of the children, Ann & John survived & should be listed on the 1841 census. Just how many of the other children survived I cannot be sure. I have John on the 1851 census but need help to find him & the family earlier. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, Suzy.

Hi Jeanette, sad to say these two are not the people I'm looking for. I have the census transcript for this 'married couple' already. The translations of my family surname are many & varied due to the Georgie accent. Suzy.

Hi Jeanette, I think this could be them? You may well be right that George could have remarried. I will check out possible marriages & also death of Margaret. The area is the right I think, given that the youngest daughter was born in Heworth. Many many thanks for this, it's a great breakthrough for me if it's them. Hi Jeanette, just checked IGI and found George's marriage to Jane Pattison on 31.03.1840 in Heworth. This is looking good. Suzy

Hi again Jeanette, Re Isabella. I have the image of this girl on the 1841 census, but was never sure who she was. She could be the missing daughter of George. I wonder where Ann is though. I know she married on 08/05/1842 to Richard Robinson & she died between 1842 & 1845 as he remarried in 1845. Maybe like Isabella she is working away from home? Thanks again for all the look ups.
