Find Ancestors

Hi, I was wondering whether someone could take a look for the following family for me please. I have found the females in 1891 and 1901 but can't seem to see them in previous census returns. The details I have are as follows - William Hodgert born c 1827 - do not know where (I believe he died in 1890 in Colchester). Frances Hodgert born 1839 Bramshot Hampshire. Margaret Frances Hodgert born 1863 Aldershot Hampshire. Agnes Hodgert born 1866 Brighton Sussex. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried variations of the spelling of the surname i have come across some very strange mistranscriptions

just done Frances no surname and birth place Bramshot as she had that on both 1891 1901 but nothing what so ever Jeanette

Have you managed to find the marriage cert for William and Frances? Surname sounds more Scottish to me Maureen

You say you found the females in 1891 but are you talking married names or maiden? The only one that I can find in 1891 is Frances Hodgert born 1840, Bramshot, Hants. but she is a widow, so that's her married name! Margaret

Margaret Frances is still single and a servant on both later census I presumed Frances and William was her parents and parents of Agnes Jeanette

According to the IGI, William Hodgert married Francis Moss on 7/10/1862 in Bramshott. William's father listed as Robert Hodgert.

I have found the marriage on the IGI - William Hodgert married Franc(i)s Moss 7 October 1862 in Bramshot. The record shows his fathers name as Robert Hodgert and her father as Benjamin Moss. On the 1891 census Margaret is shown as Maggie Hodgert (single). Agnes is under her married name of Kemp.

There's a William Hodgart born in 1827, Paisley, Renfrew, on IGI. Father Robert, mother Margaret Smith. (Older daughter of William was called Margaret) Possible 1841 Scotland?
