Well, the glasses dont help much. Ive also asked a couple of more experienced friends to have a look but they cant make it out either. Going on Reggies interpretation, as a Norfolk person. I can only think of Dereham - but that doesnt have a market in front of it - though there are two Derehams - East Dereham (a large town) and West Dereham - a village. The other thought is Downham Market, but why would he have that reversed?

Used the magnifier and I can see what you mean by Norfolk but it looks to me that its a Do for ditto and then another word with a slash through it. Just read Reggies thoughts and I can see how you could get Market from that word. Oh dear. Ill nip off to find my glasses but I dont think it will help me much! When I read the ancestry trans I cant help thinking County Wicklow even though I cant see that.

I need help to read a place of birth on the 1861 census. It has been transcribed on Ancestry but the place does not seem to exist. The persons name is Richard Patrick born 1792 he is living in Chatham Kent. THe place of birth has been transcribed as Norfolk Warbres Darlow. Any help would be great as i cannot get back any further on this family line. Kerry
