I am trying to find the surname of my ancestor's wife. A William Coates is mentioned on the FamilySearch website as marrying a Susan on either the 25th or 26th of January 1789. Has anyone access to records for this period or be able to advise on tracing this family further back? William looks likely to have been born c1759. I believe that I am descended from his son John, born in Henley in 1795. The family moved to Barnham in due course and then eventually to Co. Durham. Many thanks. Helen.
