If you go to National archives documents on line you may be able to download his medals card. There is a Sidney Wills listed there. By the way, did you see my message yesterday about the Wills chap you were searching for? I see you seem to have deleted that info too?

Deleting threads without saying 'thank you'......or even indicating if the info found is helpful.........is not likely to encourage people to spend time and effort looking for any further info you ask for................. Reg

OK Gillian - it would just be nice to know whether you are ok with the help otherwise it just seems like you either didn't like the help that was given or you aren't interested anymore. Its quite frustrating to people who have spent a lot of time looking for information to see the posts deleted without a thank you.

Gill, The problem is deleting a thread without thanking the members that have given you the information. It only needs a reply such as 'Thank you all for your help' BUT leave the thread for a few days so that members can see you have responded before you delete. I know that I like to see that the information is useful and also appreciated by the person who asked for help. Nothing annoys me more than a thread getting deleted without some sort of response from the poster. Maureen

Gillian There is no need to delete any thread - it clutters up GRs computer, not yours!, until it drops off page 15. And often, someone else comes along a few days later with some other information which might help you. Some threads run for weeks. It is usual on these boards to thank people for their help on your thread - that way everybody sees that you have seen the help, including people who havent helped you this time, but might help you next time. Gillian - I was just wondering why you deleted your Charles Mummery thread? I did a lot of look ups for you and I never saw a response - I nudged it up for you to see last night and thought I would check today to see if you were happy with the information I looked up for you only to find it had gone. Was I any help? Alex

I was able to purchase a copy of my father in laws army records from WW2 so I am sure you could do the same for Navy personnel. I think I paid £25 but my husband was really pleased to get the records. Good luck Irene
